列西村的村名来自旧时梅列东西两岸隔着一条水分立的地势。[1]

解放初，这里是三元县第一区的列西乡；高级社成立于1956年。1958年起隶属城关公社的列西大队，1960年归列西办事处，1963年又回到列西公社。1970年划入城区公社，1983年机构改革后复称列西乡。1987年，列西村改属徐碧乡。2005年徐碧乡撤销，列西村并入列西街道。[1][2]

2024年1月，列西村被命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」。2024年7月，又被命名为「2023年度三明市达标“六无”村（社区）」。[1]

村内梅列门右侧保留着红19师强渡沙溪河战斗遗址，是红七军团第十九师1934年作战的遗迹。[1]
