园宅村是菜溪乡下辖的行政村，位于乡政府驻地以西约8公里处，村委会设在西坪山。全村辖上园宅、下园宅、西坪3个自然村，据博雅地名网，总人口831人。[1]

村名由「山」与「厝」组合而来：祖厝四面群山环绕，形状如囱，故称园宅。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

新中国成立前，此地属浔阳乡。1949年，村地与黄洋合为一村，称辉煌大队；此后曾隶属多个区，1961年分出独立，改称园宅大队。1984年10月设立村民委员会，2009年2月起改属菜溪乡。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

村内名胜有芦花寨。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2024年1月，园宅村被命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」。[1]
