石苍乡隶属福建省莆田市仙游县，位于县境北部山区，东邻游洋镇，南连钟山镇，西接西苑乡，北与永泰县相望。全乡辖10个行政村，乡政府驻石苍村。[1][2][3][5]
乡境群山环绕，溪流以粗溪、九溪、白沙溪为主，森林覆盖率较高，矿产方面有叶蜡石和辉绿岩，另有粗溪的地热温泉，农业以水稻、甘薯为主，枇杷与毛竹笋是较重要的经济作物。[2]
地名由来[edit]
乡名来自境内石苍村的两座古庙，石灵宫与过仓宫各取一字组成“石仓”。因四周山林茂盛、四季常青，后人将“仓”写作“苍”。[1][2]
历史沿革[edit]
唐朝初期，此地属游洋镇。宋、元时期属兴化县永贵乡的兴泰里与福兴里，明、清两代属仙游县兴泰里。[1]
民国年间，此地先后隶属仙游县兴泰里、古邑所在的第四区与浔阳乡。新中国成立后改划为第九、第十区及石苍区，1961年设石苍人民公社，1984年改称石苍乡。[1]
1940年代，高阳村和石苍村下社一带先后成为中共福建省委机关和闽中工委的活动地，境内留有相关旧址，见下文“名胜古迹”。[1]
地理与人口[edit]
乡域面积的记载不一：博雅地名网作141.9平方千米，百度百科作138.37平方千米，两处均未注明测量年份，故并列记于此。[1][2]
人口数字也有出入：百度百科载2017年人口为3426人，博雅地名网载约4962人，二者不同，未能以政府数据核定。[1][2]
名胜古迹[edit]
高阳村的云顶岩寺，创建时间在北宋崇宁年间，约公元1102年至1106年之间，元至正、明万历、清康熙年间均有重建或扩建，现存建筑属清代。[1]
高阳村的温氏宗祠是1943年前后省委机关驻过的地方，祠堂本身始建于清雍正年间（1723—1735年），1996年经过修整。[1]
石苍村下社自然村有浔阳乡人民政府遗址，是1949年中共闽中工委指示游击队开展活动时的旧址之一。[1]
村内另有林于茂古宅、济川天堂宫和济川宋井，宋井列为县级文物保护单位，属第四批，详见济川村条目。[6][7]
文化[edit]
仙游县的文化介绍提到，石苍等山区流行的山歌兴于唐宋，延续至今，乐具以一片树叶吹奏，形式多样。[4]
荣誉[edit]
环境保护部在2014年9月授予石苍乡国家级生态乡镇称号，表彰的是2012至2013年度的工作。[1]
石苍乡在2024年1月获命名为「2023年福建省卫生乡镇」。[1]
