地名由来[edit]

村庄与柳园隔开，位于溪流之前，故名前溪。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

新中国成立前此地属凤顶乡，1950年归五区。1962年，由凤山人民公社柳园大队分出，成立前溪大队；1985年设立前溪村村民委员会，隶属凤山乡。2002年凤山乡并入西苑乡，本村随之归西苑乡。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年6月，被认定为「2021年度莆田市中级版绿盈乡村」。2022年9月，被福建省农业农村厅推介为「2022年福建省美丽休闲乡村」。2023年12月，被命名为「2023年度福建省森林村庄」。2024年1月，被命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」。2024年2月，被确定为「第二批福建省乡村振兴示范村镇」创建对象。2025年6月，被认定为「2025年莆田市“一村一品”专业村」，主导产业为休闲旅游。[1]
