历史沿革[edit]
唐朝在此设镇，宋、元、明三代是兴化县的所在地。[1] 据博雅地名网的历史沿革页，元仁宗皇庆元年（1312年）县治迁往莆田新县，此后这里标称古邑，民国时属兴泰里。[2]
1950年起这里先后属第6区、仙游县第十区、第10区与麦斜区。1958年并入游洋人民公社后，成为游洋生产大队；1984年设村民委员会，隶属游洋乡；1992年起划归游洋镇。[2]
地理环境[edit]
村境海拔450米，年降雨量约1800毫米，平均气温18.4℃，无霜期280天。[1] 山地面积12363亩；同一页中耕地一处作148亩、另一处作1481亩，两个数字不一致，未能判断。[1]
人口民族[edit]
村内有回族居民，博雅地名网载其回族人口为1531人，同页另一段作1431人，两者皆未注明年份。[1]

村内古建筑「游洋登瀛堂」被列入仙游县的一般不可移动文物点。[3]
「洋惠政桥旧址」是仙游县第一批县级文物保护单位，其管护界线为桥身两端外1米，上下游各延伸20米。[3]
桥头自然村一带的三处革命旧址，「攻打古邑乡公所战斗旧址」「古邑乡人民政府旧址」「古邑破仓分粮旧址」，均在此处。[3][4]
