历史沿革[edit]
民国时期，这一带隶属善化里。中华人民共和国成立前夕归善化乡管辖，建国后划为第四区；1950年改属第六区，1956年农业合作化时并入七一社。[2]
1958年此地改称七一大队，又叫七一营，归大济人民公社管理；1962年转属大济公社。1984年公社撤销改设乡，原大济大队更名为大济村，仍隶属大济镇。[2]
关于镇名，另有一种说法与宋代宝文阁待制陈次升有关：他在家乡倡建北溪桥，即今大济桥，乡民感念其功，便以“待制桥”相称。[2]
人口民族[edit]
截至2010年，住户2013户，合计6108人；男女人数分别为3156与2944。社区下设26个村民小组。[2]
经济[edit]
地势平坦，多为水田，境内没有山林地。居民以种稻为主，大济线面是当地的传统产品。[1]
2025年6月，社区获评「2025年莆田市一村一品专业村」，主打产品是大济线面。[1]
文化[edit]
社区内有詹、朱、林三姓共同使用的琴坂宫，陈姓的南台宫，并有詹氏宗祠与陈氏宗祠。[2]
大济中心小学设于社区，前身是善化学堂，2010年又新建了一幢综合教学楼。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
「袭击善化民防团战斗遗址」位于大济街一带。1930年9月，中共仙游临时县委筹集枪支，组建了一支二十多人的游击队，遗址即以这次战斗得名。[1]
