芹林村位于盖尾镇西南部，东与盖南村交界，北与仙华村、瑞沟村毗连，辖23个村民小组。村域地势西南高、东北低，一道清溪由西向东穿村而过。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村名由芹菜与田头两个自然村各取一字组成。田头一带住的都是林姓人家，取“芹林”二字，寓意两村融为一体。两村未合并前，南山原属田头村。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

明清两代，此地分作芹菜与殿头两村，同归香田里辖。民国时期两村各设为一保，仍归香田镇。1952年，芹菜与田头合组芹林乡，隶郊尾区。[3]

后来田头乡建制撤销，二村改为芹林大队，并入郊尾人民公社。1984年设芹林村民委员会，次年改隶郊尾镇；2002年村转归盖尾镇。[3]

名胜古迹[edit]

芹林中峰寺位于芹里自然村，类别为「近现代重要史迹及代表性建筑」，属仙游县一般不可移动文物点。芹林承圣书院位于村南山，类别相同，同属一般不可移动文物点。[4]

文化[edit]

2021年3月，该村被确定为「莆田市第十五届市级文明村镇（社区）」。2024年1月，该村入选「2023年福建省卫生村」。[1]
