杉尾村位于盖尾镇中部，赖榜公路横贯村域，木兰溪从村中穿过。村名与旧时杉木的水运集散有关。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

村在木兰溪下游溪畔，早年是杉木贸易的集散地。木材出自县内山区，经木筏水运至此，是仙游水运杉材的终点。“终”俗称为“尾”，故名杉尾。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

新中国成立前此地属香北乡。1958年归盖尾公社，1984年设杉尾村民委员会，隶属盖尾乡。1992年11月盖尾撤乡设镇，村随之划归盖尾镇。[1][3]

名胜古迹[edit]

村中的杉尾黎轸墓位于东前埔，为仙游县第四批县级文物保护单位。杉尾严瑞洪新厝、旧厝为仙游县一般不可移动文物点。[4]

文化[edit]

元宵节出游时，杉尾村的舞狮队是村中的传统节目，舞狮动作有抢球、吐雾、舐毛、跳卓等。村中古时曾办有青云书院。[1]
