地名由来[edit]
村前溪中有一潭，旧时此地因俞姓聚居，称俞潭。相传有仙人到此洗浴，于是改称仙潭。[2]
历史沿革[edit]
莆仙建县时，俞潭被分为两地，此村归仙游县，即今仙潭村。新中国成立前属香北乡，1984年改设仙潭村民委员会，隶属盖尾乡；1992年属盖尾镇。[1][3]
人口民族[edit]
旧时村中有十八姓聚居。现以王、何两姓为主，据称王姓一支的始祖为闽南王王审知的后裔。[1]
地理环境[edit]
村中以龙眼果树为特色产业，过去曾远销外地。[1]
