地名由来[edit]
古时村境内的屏隆山盛产苦竹笋，村因此得名苦竹村。后因当地群众认为“苦”字寓意不好，申请更改。2015年，经县政府批准改名仙竹村。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
中华人民共和国成立前，此地属岭西镇。1950年划入仙游第七区；1958年9月归度尾公社，设苦竹生产大队。1984年改设苦竹村村委会，仍隶属度尾乡。次年三月乡改镇，村随之并入度尾镇。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
白鸽岭营救战斗旧址位于村内白鸽岭。1944年8月，闽南特委委员翁鸿镗被押送途中，游击队在白鸽岭实施营救，此处即为当时的战斗地点。[2]
