染厝村位于郊尾镇西南部，周边与旸谷村、塘边村、郊尾街居委会相接，又与枫亭镇的东宅村、山头村为邻。村子处在石牛溪下游，多为丘陵台地，海拔25米。[1]

村名的由来：元、明、清时，村中大量种植青靛，因而称蓝园；后来染布作坊增多，改称染厝。[1]

2024年1月，村子获评「2023年福建省卫生村」。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

元、明、清时称蓝园，后改称染厝，属香田里。民国时期称染厝保，归香田镇。中华人民共和国成立前属香田乡，1950年隶属第三区，1952年隶第四区，1955年归枫亭区，1956年改属郊尾区，1958年9月设立染厝大队。[1]

1984年12月，染厝设村委会，归郊尾乡管辖；1985年3月起改属郊尾镇。村下辖十五个自然村，其中有染厝、光明、华山、三河等。[1]

经济[edit]

村内土地肥沃，水源充足，是郊尾镇水稻、甘蔗和龙眼的主要产区。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

杨秀峰墓在光明自然村梅山脚下，年代为清。墓主杨秀峰（1811年至1898年）诰封中议大夫候补布政司使照磨。他曾捐资修建金山书院，朝廷为此立了沙溪的乐善好施坊，见沙溪村。[1]
