后沈村位于郊尾镇东北部，北边靠着云顶山，东南邻长安、埕边、东湖三村。村子向东南倾斜，海拔45米。[1]

唐宋时此地叫厚锦，因靠近云顶山的关锦之地而得名；此后沈姓在村中聚居、占了主要位置，村名于是改为后沈。[1]

截至2023年8月，村子常住人口为5578人，行政管辖区域约421.32公顷。2024年1月，村子获评「2023年福建省卫生村」。[2][1]

历史沿革[edit]

唐宋时此地名厚锦，归仙游县旸谷里管辖。明代以后，沈氏入籍香田里一带；民国时期改称后沈保，并归香田镇。新中国成立前属香田乡，1950年划入第三区。[1]

1956年6月，后沈并入郊尾区埕边乡，1958年9月另设后沈大队。1984年11月设后沈村村民委员会，隶属郊尾乡，1985年3月改属郊尾镇。村内下辖枫林、过溪、尾厝等八个自然村，共20个村民小组。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

村内有云顶山的祖师岩、正觉阁、云顶寺和古钟，另有古战场遗址；据百度百科，村中还有唐代正觉禅师修行的遗址。[1][2]

后沈东旸宫在过山自然村，属古建筑，为仙游县一般不可移动文物点。[1]
