郊尾社区处于郊尾镇中部，也是镇政府的所在地。社区东侧是新和村，西侧以塘边村为界，南侧与旸谷村相接，北侧紧邻埕边村。社区海拔30米，占地2.6平方千米。[1][3]

社区的地名出自地势：石牛溪、后连溪、后宋溪等几条小溪在此汇合，汇合处北侧原为沧溪上游的集市，渐渐发展成一条街，人们称它沟尾街。1952年3月，把“沟”字换成“郊”字，于是有了郊尾这个名字。[1]

2024年1月，社区获评「2023年福建省卫生社区」。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明清时期，今社区境内的沟尾、林角两村同属仙游县唐安乡香田里。民国时二村合为庆和保，归香田镇管辖；1949年9月，这里改设庆和乡。[1][2]

1950年至1958年间，此地先后归属第三区、第四区、枫亭区、郊尾区和盖尾区。1958年组建郊尾大队，同年起隶属仙游县郊尾人民公社。1984年街道改设郊尾街居委会，同年12月划归郊尾镇。2003年，居委会升格为社区。[1][3]

经济[edit]

早年的郊尾街是水运码头，明清时才形成街市，长度不过百米；民国以后街道渐成规模。新中国成立后，这里以国营和供销社商业为主，1950年代以粮食生产为重，此后龙眼等果树的多种经营逐步发展。[1]

324国道穿过社区全境，与三郊省道在此相交。社区之内还有贯华工业区和林角片开发区，郊尾镇中心综合发展区也在其中。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

梅洋祠堂战斗旧址在梅洋自然村。解放战争期间，人民解放军进入福建，仙德游击大队与仙游各区游击队也转为主动进攻，以公开的武装斗争打击国民党地方势力。[1]

郊尾陈氏民居在林角自然村，属古建筑，列为仙游县一般不可移动文物点。[1]
