郊尾镇隶属福建省莆田市仙游县，位于县境南部。镇域东侧接城厢区的灵川与华亭两镇，南面紧靠枫亭镇，西边隔着园庄镇，北侧挨着盖尾镇。镇政府设在郊尾社区。[1][2][3]

镇中心的郊尾街古时是水运码头，明清时期建成街市，后以商业和供销合作为主。324国道与三郊省道在镇内交汇，使郊尾成为交通枢纽。[4]

历史沿革[edit]

明清时期，镇域内多数村庄属仙游县香田里，塘边等村则属慈孝里。[4][5][7]

1952年8月，今镇域属仙游县第四区，并设郊尾区。1958年9月，郊尾区被取消，改设的公社驻地在郊尾街，管辖16个生产大队。[2]

1984年11月，公社换称为乡；同年12月，郊尾乡再改建为镇。2003年，郊尾街居委会升格为郊尾社区。[2][4]

经济[edit]

镇内以农业为基础。染厝、湖宅两村是水稻、甘蔗和龙眼的主产区，塘边村则是乌龙岭龙眼的产地。[8][10][7]

郊尾街的居民经营食品、水果、粮油、五金等批发零售商店，也开设饮食、旅社和维修等店面。[4]

名胜古迹[edit]

镇内的革命旧址有长岭村的长岭战斗旧址、郊尾社区的梅洋祠堂战斗旧址、阳谷村的杨寨交通站旧址和塘边村的新厝联络站旧址。[4][5][6][7]

各村另有祠堂、民居、寺庙和墓葬，其中不少为仙游县一般不可移动文物点，如阳谷村的旸谷杨氏宗祠、新和村的陈经邦墓。[6][9]
