下明社区位于仙游县榜头镇的南大门，新旧仙榜路与濑榜公路在社区境内交叉。社区名称来自境内的明山宫与下明山宫。[1]

2021年11月，社区被福建省爱卫办命名为「2021年福建省卫生社区」；同年2月，社区入选「福建省2018-2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

下明普泽书院是县一般不可移动文物点，位于卞下，为古建筑。社区内还有下明郑举仙旧居和下明林静山旧居，同为古建筑，也属县一般不可移动文物点。[1]

人物[edit]

革命烈士郑珍（1900年—1934年）是下明村人，1927年加入中国共产党。[2]
