建国村隶属福建省莆田市仙游县枫亭镇，位于福厦公路西侧，西邻东宅村，南临枫慈溪，北靠牛母山，毗邻郊尾镇。[1]

村名的来历：此地原称斗西乡，1961年与铺头折乡，为纪念新中国成立，改名建国。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

元代此地设唐安乡连江里与慈孝里，里下分有下江、顶西、宋桥、下浒、洋坑、云锦等自然村。[2]

民国十七年（1928年），因位于天中万寿塔西部，此地称斗西保。[2]

新中国成立初期这里叫斗西乡，人民公社时期一度称建明大队；1961年更名为建国大队，1984年改为建国村委会。[2]

文化[edit]

梅岭山腰的朝天寺建于唐初，寺内外保留着历代碑坊与石刻。1992年，朝天寺被列为县级文物保护单位。[1]
