南桥社区地处鲤城南端，早先叫南桥街，得名于辖区内一座南宋时期修建的南门桥，此桥今称宋桥。[1]

社区东面与东门社区接壤，西面与洪桥社区为邻，南隔木兰溪与鲤南镇柳坑社区相望，北面与城内社区毗连。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

唐初，这一带归清源镇。宋至清代叫“南门”，又名“迎勋门”，隶属嘉禾乡功建里。民国时设迎勋保，归中山镇。1950年，此处称迎勋街。[3]

1952年7月，改名南门街；1958年9月，此地为南桥大队（含柳坑）。1968年10月，此处更名五一街革命领导小组。1977年，又成南桥大队；1981年，恢复南桥街居委会的名称。[3]

2002年，此处成为南桥社区居委会，隶属鲤城街道。[3]

著名人物[edit]

据博雅地名网，南桥一带先后出过茅南轩（唐同光三年，925年进士）、茅偕（宋大中祥符五年，1012年进士）、茅元（元至正十五年，1355年进士）等进士。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

南门桥又名升仙桥、仙溪桥。南宋绍兴八年（1138年），陈可大兄弟三人出资发起修建此桥，桥计10墩19孔，全长176米。元、明、清、民国各代多次重修，桥墩保留着宋代的建筑特色。[2]

南桥雁塔位于清静堂西侧，为「仙游县第一批县级文物保护单位」；桥郑樵祠堂为「仙游县第六批县级文物保护单位」；南桥兴贤庙为「仙游县第三批县级文物保护单位」。[4]

南桥茅氏宗祠、南桥朝天宫为一般不可移动文物点。[4]

文化[edit]

2021年2月，南桥社区列入「福建省2018-2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单。[1]
