洪桥社区处在县城中央，东侧与城内、南桥两社区相接，西侧挨着十字社区，南面临近木兰溪畔，北边依托坝垄社区。[1]

地名来历是：旧县城西门护城河上的拱桥一带，读音转为“洪桥”。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

唐朝初期，这里属清源镇；宋至清代称西街，归嘉禾乡功建里。1911年至1949年，此地设有万寿、慈济、爱晓、垅星4个保，划归中山镇。[2]

1950年4月，保改为街；1961年12月以洪桥为名设街；1968年10月，改为红卫街革命领导小组；1981年，洪桥居委会得以成立。[2]

百度百科则讲，1949年时保已改为街，2011年再改为社区。[3]

名胜古迹[edit]

许巷联络站旧址位于西门兜许巷，1930年至1934年间，中共仙游党、团组织的领导人常在此开展工作。[2]

洪桥郑纪祠属于「仙游县第一批县级文物保护单位」，洪桥天后宫属于「仙游县第五（一期）批县级文物保护单位」，洪桥田圣府属于「仙游县第六批县级文物保护单位」。[2]

仙游县城隍庙在八二五大街仙游实验幼儿园内，为一般不可移动文物点。[2]

2021年2月，洪桥社区列入「福建省2018-2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单。[1]
