月塘镇是福建省莆田市秀屿区的一个镇，位于区境南部，东濒平海湾，西临湄洲湾，镇政府驻坂尾社区。1997年11月，忠门镇析出的11个村组成月塘乡，2016年1月改为镇制。镇域沿海，浅海滩涂养殖是主要的渔业生产，境内的南通殿、锦山宫、霞峰书院等古迹保存至今。[1][2][3]

历史沿革[edit]

月塘一带古时属兴化府莆田县崇福里。民国年间这里先后归忠门区、西园乡管辖，之后又随忠门地方的建制变动，1958年并入忠门人民公社，1988年归忠门镇。[3]

镇名来自土地改革之后的一次合并：月洋坡与霞塘两个村合为一个生产大队，各取一字，称为「月塘大队」，后来的镇名由此而来。[3]

1997年11月18日，月塘乡自忠门镇的行政区划调整中划出，正式挂牌成立，位于忠门半岛的北端。此后2002年改由秀屿区辖制，2016年1月由乡改镇。[3][4]

地理环境[edit]

镇域东侧濒临平海湾，西侧临近湄洲湾，地处忠门、礼泉与埭头三个半岛的交汇处。[2]

镇内养殖的品种以蛏、海虾和海蛎为主，养殖多在浅海滩涂。[2][4]

名胜古迹[edit]

南通殿在前康村乌龟山山麓，创建于宋代，明代由工部尚书康大和主持改建，清代又经修葺，1980年村民依仿宋式风格重建，2001年增建圆明殿，形成完整的庙宇群落，为「莆田市文物保护单位」。[5]

锦山宫在坂尾社区，始建于宋雍熙四年（987年），明代重建，清代重修，宫内存有宋代石碣和雍正三年的纪年碑，为「莆田市文物保护单位」。[6]

霞峰书院在霞塘社区，动工于清乾隆五十八年（1793年），嘉庆三年（1798年）主体告成。1960年书院被毁，1996年乡民集资重建，院内留有清嘉庆年间的石刻，书院左侧的冲山宫同样始建于清代。[7]

文化[edit]

2020年12月，月塘镇获福建省爱卫办命名为「福建省卫生乡镇」；2021年3月，入选「莆田市第十五届市级文明村镇（社区）」。[3]
