莆禧村是山亭镇下辖的行政村，村内有明代建成的莆禧古城。此地原名「浮曦」，因方言谐音而改称莆禧。[1][2]

地名[edit]

晴天朝阳升起时，海面雾气映照如披纱，前人美其名「浮曦」。明代在此筑城驻兵以御倭寇，「浮曦」由方言谐音演变为寓意吉祥的「莆禧」。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

1988年10月起，它隶属莆田县忠门镇；1997年转入莆田县山亭乡；2010年归莆田市秀屿区山亭镇管辖。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

莆禧古城东、南、北三面临海，原为明代抗倭的军事城堡，现存城墙约1335米，为福建省文物保护单位，2007年命名为福建省国防教育基地。[2][3]

城内的莆禧天妃宫始建于南宋，初名崇福夫人庙，明代重修后改称天妃宫，现存明清两代的匾额和楹联。[1][3]

莆禧城隍庙原名鲤江庙，明代重修后改为城隍庙。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2019年6月，福建省人民政府把莆禧村列入「第六批福建省历史文化名镇名村」之列。2022年10月，经福建省农业农村厅认定为「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」。[1]

据福建省人民政府门户网站所载，古城面积0.48平方公里，常住村民2000多人（年份未载）。[3]
