鳌屿村隶属南日镇，位于大鳌屿岛上，在镇政府驻地东北约17.5公里处，岛屿介于小日岛与罗盘岛之间。村委会驻中鳌自然村。[1][2]

名称由来[edit]

岛屿四周临海，轮廓似一条鳌鱼，村名由此而来。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

此地在宋元隶感德乡南匿里，明清隶四区南匿里。民国初归省府直接管辖，民国23年（1934年）属福清县九区，民国24年与25年为南日镇特种区，民国29年划归莆田县南日镇，民国32年（1943年）隶南日镇五屿村。[2]

新中国成立后，1949年属十三区工屿村，1950年属十三区五屿乡，1954年至1955年改隶二十四区五屿乡，1956年至1957年属南日区五屿乡。1958年为南日公社五屿大队，1961年成立鳌山大队，1984年改设南日镇鳌山村委会。[2]

1993年12月，村庄改归莆田县南日镇管辖。2002年2月起，改称鳌屿村，归秀屿区南日镇管辖。[1]

村况[edit]

村委会统辖中鳌、前鳌、后鳌3个自然村，设4个村民小组。聚落形状似鳌鱼。[2]

农田100亩，甘薯为主，兼种大小麦与花生。村中有小学与医疗所各一座。岛与其他岛屿之间靠渡船往来，有发电机供部分照明。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2022年12月，鳌屿村获「2022年福建省卫生村」称号。[1]
