名称由来[edit]
岛上土色皆红，原名红日岛。它在南日群岛中仅次于南日大岛，故后来改称小日岛，村名随之而来。[1][2]
历史沿革[edit]
此地在宋元隶感德乡南匿里，明清隶四区南匿里。民国初归省府管辖，民国23年（1934年）属福清县九区，民国24年至25年改属南日特种区，民国29年划归莆田县南日镇，民国32年（1943年）属南日镇五屿村。[2]
新中国成立后，1949年与1950年属十三区五屿村，1954年至1955年改隶二十四区五屿乡，同年又划入南日区五屿乡。1957年称南日镇五屿，1958年为南日公社五屿大队，1961年成立小日大队，1984年改设南日镇小日村委会。[2]
1993年12月，村庄改归莆田县南日镇管辖；至2002年2月，又划归秀屿区。2015年，村庄搬迁。[3]
村况[edit]
村委会下设4个村民小组，全村435户、2221人，博雅地名网未注年份。[2]
耕地325亩，甘薯为主，兼种大小麦、大豆、花生；林地500亩，种植黑松与相思树。海产以鱼虾为主。[2]
荣誉[edit]
2022年12月，小日村获「2022年福建省卫生村」称号。[1]
