名称由来[edit]
村庄地势低平，古时为一片沙滩。沙多而色白，故称白沙洋。[2]
历史沿革[edit]
此地在宋元隶感德乡南匿里，明清隶四区南匿里。民国初归省府直接管辖，民国23年（1934年）属福清县九区，民国24年与25年为南日镇特种区，民国29年划归莆田县南日镇沙洋村。[2]
新中国成立后，1949年属十三区沙洋村，1950年属十三区西沙乡，1957年为南日镇高级社，1958年为南日公社西沙大队，1961年改称沙洋大队，1984年设南日镇沙洋村委会。[2]
村况[edit]
村委会辖7个自然村，设6个村民小组。博雅地名网记为702户、2674人，未注年份。聚落呈长条状。[2]
耕地1222亩，主种甘薯、大豆与花生，兼种大小麦；林地900亩，多为木麻黄与相思树。土特产有紫菜、蛏与牡蛎。村中有小学、医疗所，有电灯，交通便利，有客车。[2]
荣誉[edit]
2021年3月，村庄被确定为「莆田市第十五届市级文明村镇（社区）」。[1]
2024年1月，沙洋村被命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」。[1]
