岩下村隶属南日镇，位于镇政府驻地西南约2公里处，介于云万村与石盘村之间，村委会驻岩下自然村。[1][2]

名称由来[edit]

村址落在合掌山石脉延伸的中段，地势偏高。山上有一块虎头岩，村庄坐落在岩石之下，村名由此而来。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

村庄约300年前，先由埭头后亭的沈氏迁入，之后莆田黄石塘桥头的张氏也迁居于此。此地在宋元隶感德乡南匿里，明清隶南匿里。[2]

民国23年（1934年）隶福清县九区，之后并入南日特种区；1943年属南日镇岩下保。新中国成立后，1950年属十三区岩下乡，1955年属南日区岩下乡；1957年并入南日高级社，1958年为南日公社岩下大队，1984年设南日岩下村委会。[2]

村况[edit]

村委会下辖6个自然村，共设15个村民小组。博雅地名网记为914户、4392人，未注年份，村落轮廓呈椭圆形。[2]

耕地1265亩，甘薯、大小麦为主要作物，兼种大豆、花生，土特产有鱼、虾与海带。林地500亩，树种以木麻黄、相思树为主，间有黑松。村里设小学与医疗所，有电灯，岛上公路穿村而过，有客车。[2]
