南日镇在秀屿区东南部的海上，东南面临台湾海峡，西面隔平海湾与埭头、平海两镇相对。它是秀屿区内唯一的海岛乡镇，所在的南日岛在福建居第三大岛。全镇面积为51.88平方千米，2019年末户籍人口63733人，镇人民政府驻海山村。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

南日一带古称南匿山，因山隐在海中而得名。[2][3] 维基百科则说，后人因方言同音，改用笔画较简的「南日」二字。[3]

宋元时，此地隶崇福乡的奉谷里。[1] 1993年才设南日镇，那时仍归莆田县所辖；2002年2月改隶秀屿区。[1][2]

地理环境[edit]

境内面积不小于0.1平方千米的岛屿有18座，素称「十八列岛」。其中有人居住的较大小岛为小日、鳌屿、罗盘、赤山四个，各自设有行政村。[2][3] 快懂百科统计镇境有大小岛屿52个、礁石111个，维基百科则记为111个岛屿，两说不一致。[2][3]

博雅地名网记南日岛为主岛，面积44平方千米，其余小岛合计8平方千米，全镇距台湾新竹港72.89海里。[4] 镇境北面隔兴化湾，与福清市遥遥相对。[1][2]

行政区域面积据百度百科为51.88平方千米；维基百科所载陆域总面积为56平方千米，口径不同，未注年份。[1][3]

经济[edit]

据博雅地名网，1994年开始，岛上在海中养殖鲍鱼，并首创筏式养殖九孔鲍。养殖品种后来换为日本黑鲍，另有皱纹盘鲍与杂交盘鲍。鲍肉可鲜食，也可冷冻或制成罐头；贝壳称「石决明」，是清肝明目的传统中药材。[4]

岛上的水产还有紫菜、海带与鱼虾，村级的土特产记录中常见这几样。[5] 据快懂百科，2019年末镇内工业企业为118家，规模以上的为7家。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

南日岛烈士纪念碑在海山村尖山。1951年12月，国民党军队进犯南日岛，驻岛解放军在岛民支援下展开守卫；1952年10月，国民党军一个加强师再次来犯，驻岛解放军反击并使其受挫。纪念碑为悼念这两次战役中牺牲的烈士而建，1964年春由当时的中共莆田县委与县人民委员会立碑，碑台内安葬烈士，碑身正面镌有原福建省委书记叶飞的题字。[7][8]

该碑为莆田市文物保护单位，据百度百科，还被认定为「福建省第三批爱国主义教育基地」。[7][8]

港南杨氏墓位于港南村南山自然村，建于清道光己酉年（1849年），墓体平面呈「风」字形，共三进台阶，墓墙嵌有浮雕石板。它列入「莆田市第九批市级文物保护单位」。[6]

著名人物[edit]

陈亚文（1938－2008）是南日镇石盘村人，生于1938年12月5日，先后担任南日镇党委秘书和党政办主任。[9]
