江堤村的名称由江西自然村与上店村的户角海堤两个地名合并而来。2021年11月，福建省爱卫办授予村庄「2021年福建省卫生村」称号；2025年3月，它获认定为「福建省第一批省级乡村振兴示范村」。[1][2]
历史沿革[edit]
此前的建制曾多次调整，1958年前后为江堤生产大队，1980年归平海人民公社管辖。1984年设平海乡江堤村委会，1994年随平海镇归莆田县，2002年改属秀屿区。[3]
