峤江社区是东峤镇的镇中心区，镇政府驻地所在。社区名中的“峤”字取自村内的白玉山、鲫鱼山、周座山三座山，“江”字取自村南可供海船停泊的前海江湾。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
宋元时期，东峤位于崇福乡合浦里之内。明洪武二十四年（1391年）起改属莆田县七区合浦里。清代沿海一带经历截界与复界：顺治十八年（1661年）截界，康熙二十年（1681年）复界。民国二年（1913年）设东峤乡。[2]
1949年8月莆田解放后，东峤先后隶属笏石区公所与前沁乡等建制。1958年10月，东峤大队改隶笏石人民公社，1965年8月并入东峤公社。1984年东峤村隶东峤乡，1992年东峤乡升格为镇，2002年划归秀屿区。2003年6月，东峤村改建为峤江社区。[2]
文化[edit]
2021年3月，峤江社区被确定为「莆田市第十五届市级文明村镇（社区）」；2021年11月，被福建省爱卫办命名为「2021年福建省卫生社区」。[1]
