秀屿村位于莆田市东南沿海，属东庄镇。村名来自古时的一座小岛，因与“秀屿”读音相同而得名。村境内的青峰岩摩崖石刻是福建省文物保护单位。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

古时此处有一座小岛，叫侯屿（又写作猴屿），后又称小屿。因“小屿”与“秀屿”读音相同，村名定为秀屿。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年，秀屿与莆头、大象、东沁、白山、堤头、前云等村共组莆林乡。1963年改为莆头大队，1984年初前云与秀屿合为前云大队，1994年再拆分出秀屿村。2000年归东庄镇，2002年归秀屿区。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

青峰岩摩崖石刻位于村内，是明代建造园亭时留下的石刻，共12处，有“飞云洞”等题字和诗刻。2009年，该处被列为福建省文物保护单位。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2024年1月，秀屿村获命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」。[1]
