地名由来[edit]
村前古时有一潭，原称“前潭”。后因字形相近，群众写作“前云”。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1949年，前云属五区（笏石区）莆前保与莆前乡。1952年改属二十区（下塘）莆林乡，1955年归忠门区莆前乡。1957年，它组成莆林乡下的前云高级社；1958年划入莆林公社，设莆前大队。1961年又归东庄人民公社。[1]
1984年，大队转为村，隶属莆田县东庄乡。1988年划入秀屿镇，2000年归东庄镇，2002年归秀屿区。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
鳌城宫位于村内，坐西朝东，为单进合院式建筑，前殿、拜亭和大殿依中轴线排列。[1]
