大象村位于东庄镇，由大象、官兜两个自然村组成。村名来自境内一块形似大象的石头。[1]

境内有一块石头形似大象，村因此得名大象。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1949年，大象属五区（笏石区）石象保，设石象乡。1952年改属二十区（下塘）石象乡，1955年归忠门区莆林乡，1957年隶属前运乡，并设大象村。1958年，东沁、白山、堤头、前云、莆头与大象等村合编为大象大队。1961年此地归东庄公社。[1]
1984年，此村设于东庄乡之下，称大象村；四年后划入秀屿镇。1996年，村委会迁址重建。2002年起属秀屿区东庄镇。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2024年1月，大象村获命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」。[1]
