东沁村位于礼泉半岛，靠近秀屿港区，村辖东沁、肖林、上塘、前黄四个自然村。村名“东沁”因居东且靠海而得。[1]

地名由来[edit]

1981年以前，东沁属沙林大队。因工作管理的需要，此地从沙林大队中划出，因居东且靠海，称为“东沁”大队。1984年10月，又因建乡工作的需要改名为东沁村委会。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清朝以前，此地隶属兴化府莆田县礼泉里。自民国到1949年，它属莆田县沙林保，新中国成立初期归莆田县忠门区。1956年并入沙林文初级社，1958年隶属忠门公社，1962年称莆林公社，1964年又归东庄公社，设沙林大队。[1]

1984年，大队转为村，归莆田县东庄乡。1988年划入秀屿镇，2000年归东庄镇，2002年归秀屿区。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年3月，东沁村被确定为「莆田市第十五届市级文明村镇（社区）」。同年11月，福建省爱卫办作出命名，东沁村成为「2021年福建省卫生村」。2022年10月，福建省农业农村厅将东沁村认定为「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」。[1]
