堤头村是革命老区村，位于东庄镇礼泉半岛中部，只有一个自然村。村名来自此地最早的海滩围垦地，且处于海边的头部。[1]
地名由来[edit]
此地是最早的海滩围垦地，又位于海边的头部，因而得名堤头。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
新中国成立后，此地属霞塘区马埭乡。1955年至1957年间，此地被划入莆前公社的沙林大队。1965年至1979年，它改隶东庄公社沙林大队。[1]
1984年，此处改为埭头村，隶属莆田县东庄乡。1987年由于与埭头镇重名，更名为堤头村。1988年划入秀屿镇，2000年归东庄镇，2002年归秀屿区。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2024年1月，堤头村获命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」。[1]
