东庄村位于礼泉半岛中部，临海而居，距东庄镇政府约1公里。村名“东庄”相传与南宋陆秀夫后人的迁居有关。[1]

地名由来[edit]

相传南宋末年，陆秀夫的一位后人从枫亭迁居苍山，即今东庄村。苍山位于枫亭以东，因此得名东庄。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1949年，东庄属五区（笏石区），设东庄保和东庄乡。1955年归忠门区东庄乡，1957年组成东庄高级社。1958年成为忠门公社东庄大队，1960年改属东庄公社。1984年此地属东庄乡。1988年归秀屿镇，村名仍为东庄村；1994年村委会重建。之后，2000年归东庄镇，2002年划归秀屿区。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年3月，东庄村被确定为「莆田市第十五届市级文明村镇（社区）」。2022年10月，村庄入选2022年淘宝村名单，同月被认定为「2022年度莆田市中级版绿盈乡村」。2024年6月，村庄入选「福建省第四批高级版绿盈乡村」名单。[1]
