笏石社区属福建省莆田市秀屿区笏石街道，是一个居委会性质的城区社区。社名取自笏石一带的地名由来。[1]

名称由来[edit]

据博雅地名网，笏石街东侧的小丘上有一块天然石头，形状如朝笏，人们取「缙笏朝天」之意，以「笏石」为名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1949年前后，这里叫作第5区的笏石文明街。1950年起的三年里归笏石区的笏石乡管；1954年与1955年划入第16区笏石乡，1956年又回到笏石区笏石乡名下。[1]

1957年并入笏石高级社，1958年转由笏石公社的笏石大队领导，1984年才以笏石社区之名出现在笏石镇之下。[1]

荣誉称号[edit]

福建省爱卫办在2021年11月把「2021年福建省卫生社区」的称号授予笏石社区。[1]

2022年10月，笏石社区被命名为「2022年全国示范性老年友好型社区」。[1]

2021年3月，笏石社区被确定为「莆田市第十五届市级文明村镇（社区）」。[1]
