美澜村在兴化湾南岸一带，离镇中心18公里，属北高镇较偏远的沿海村庄，下辖5个自然村。村名雅称“美澜”，缘于村子三面临海，风起时浪涌不息。荔城区人民政府网站的行政区划栏目把本村写作「美兰村」。[1][3][4]

历史沿革[edit]

宋、元两代此地归崇福乡，明、清两代归兴福里，民国时期是五区下美澜乡的美澜保。1949年改属六区，建国初仍沿用竹庄保的旧称；1950年设乡，1952年转归十七区。1956年改隶笏石区，设美澜大队；1960年划入北高公社的生产大队；1961年至1965年间另属一个公社，之后又并入北高公社。1984年改隶北高乡，称美澜村；1987年起改称北高镇的美澜村，2002年划入荔城区北高镇。[2]
