竹庄村位于北高镇中部，夹在埕头与美兰两村之间，西靠埕头与美兰两处盐场，距镇中心12公里。境内小山密集，属丘陵地貌。村名的来历是村中竹林成片，早年还建过山庄，古称竹啸庄。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

新中国成立后此地属十七区北高竹庄保。1950年改设为乡，1952年归十七区北高竹庄乡；1956年隶属笏石区美庄乡，1957年归埕头乡所辖。1958年笏石公社设竹庄大队，1961年至1965年曾设竹庄公社，之后归北高公社下的竹庄大队。1984年起称北高乡竹庄村，2002年划入荔城区北高镇。[2]

名人[edit]

翁承赞的籍贯为莆阳兴福里竹啸庄，即本村所在之地。[5]

文化[edit]

据百度百科所载，村子是「六桂」文化的发源地之一。2021年11月，省爱卫办确认竹庄村为「2021年福建省卫生村」。[1][4]
