吴城村位于北高镇南部，东邻山前村，西与渡岭村相连，南面与东峤镇接壤，距镇中心8公里。黄北埭交战公路横贯村中。村名的来历是早年吴姓人家在此落户，村子还曾筑有城墙，遂得名吴城。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

宋、元时此地归崇福乡，明、清归兴福里，民国时为笏石区北高乡的吴城保。新中国成立后，它隶属笏石公社下的山城大队；1960年前归埕头公社，此后转属北高公社，设吴城大队。1984年起称北高乡吴城村，2002年划归荔城区北高镇。[2]

文化[edit]

2021年3月，村子被定为「莆田市第十五届市级文明村镇（社区）」；2021年11月，省爱卫办确定吴城村为「2021年福建省卫生村」。[1]
