院后村位于北高镇西侧，与黄石镇接壤，离镇中心3公里。村名出自旧时境内的一座书院：村民在书院后方聚居，于是得名院后。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

宋、元时期此地划在崇福乡之内，明、清时期归兴福里。民国期间，这里先属北高镇梅仙保，后并入梅山保，又改归北高九梅乡。1952年称九仙乡。1973年村中组建院后大队，1984年成为北高乡院后村，2002年划入荔城区北高镇。[2]

经济[edit]

村里多数人务农，外出打工的人不少。传统副业是编织草制和竹制的工艺品，村委会正筹划铺设水泥村道，以支持手工业扩大规模。[1]
