西洪村位于福建省莆田市荔城区黄石镇以西约6公里处，东邻桥兜村，南面与清后村相接，西面临木兰溪。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

村民建居在木兰溪畔，早年洪水自西而来，淹没农田，故名西洪。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

旧时隶属感德乡，明清时为三区连江里的一部分。民国时期是黄石乡的西洪保。新中国成立后建西洪乡，后来并入清江乡，设西洪高级社。[4]

1958年，此地成为黄石公社西洪大队；1984年大队改为村，2002年以后归荔城区黄石镇，并设西洪村委会。[4]
