地名由来[edit]
明初，李氏从涵江白塘洋尾、西墩迁居宁海桥西侧，最初取名西里。后取吉祥之意，改称西利。[3]
历史沿革[edit]
旧时此地属感德乡连江里，明清为三区连江里。解放前与西洪合为一保，新中国成立后与下埭、霞江头一道组成桥霞乡。1958年公社化时，此地归黄石公社桥霞大队。[4]
西利自1972年起独立为大队，仍隶黄石公社。1984年10月，此地改称黄石镇西利村；2002年以后归荔城区黄石镇，设西利村委会。[4]
