桥兜村位于福建省莆田市荔城区黄石镇以北约5公里处，北靠木兰溪，东临江东村。村内有创建于元代的宁海桥。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

此地位于莆田南洋与北洋平原的交接处，古时建有宁海桥。村民在大桥南侧聚居，因而得名桥兜。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

宋元时期，桥兜一带属感德乡连江里，明清两代仍隶属连江里（归三区管辖）。解放前为桥兜保；新中国成立后先划入三区桥霞乡，再归黄石区清霞乡。[4]

1957至1958年间，这里设清霞乡下的桥兜农业社，1959至1960年改为黄石公社桥兜大队；1961至1965年一度归黄石区清江公社。1984年改为黄石镇桥兜村，2002年以后归荔城区。[4]

名胜古迹[edit]

宁海桥位于木兰溪入海口一带，始建于元统二年（1334年）。桥为石墩石梁结构，全长225.7米，宽5.8米，桥墩14座，桥面用75块巨石铺成。[5]

黄石宁海小学旧址位于林墩自然村。1927年，黄元在林墩戚公祠创办宁海小学，此后他投身革命，并在1929年底回到莆田参加革命工作。[6]
