地名由来[edit]
村子位于莆田东门兜以东。早年曾筑堤防潮，村名“东埭”即由堤埭而来。[3]
历史沿革[edit]
此地在感德乡连江里一带，后划入三区连江里，民国时期则属黄石乡东埭保。[4]
新中国成立后设东埭乡，划归三区、五区及黄石区，1954年改属北高区东埭乡。1958年，东埭成为黄石公社的大队；1960年东甲公社成立，1965年又回到黄石公社。1984年12月改为东埭村，2002年归荔城区黄石镇。[4]
