东源村位于福建省莆田市荔城区黄石镇的边远地带，东邻东山村，南接本镇屏南一带，北面是东甲村，全村面积约2平方千米。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

村民建居在大山东麓一片地势平坦的地方，最初称东洋，后因方言谐音改称东源。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

此地在感德乡一带；明清划入三区连江里，民国时属三区邹曾徐保。新中国成立后归北高区东山乡。[4]

1959年至1960年曾设东洋大队，之后隶属东甲公社。1966年底复归黄石公社，称东洋大队；1980年，东洋大队更名为东源大队。1984年12月，它改成东源村，2002年以后归荔城区黄石镇。[4]
