东山村位于福建省莆田市荔城区黄石镇以东约5公里处，东面与北高镇的东乡村相邻，全村面积约3平方千米。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

关于村名，一说是村子地处黄石东部海岸，东侧有山，故名东山。另一说是此地原有翁、卓、郑三姓，后邹氏自山东省邹县迁入，为纪念发源地，将“山东”二字倒置作村名，称东山。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

此地先归感德乡连江里，明清划入三区连江里；民国时属北高区的东山保。新中国成立后，这里改称北高区东山乡，之后又在东甲东山高级社的基础上组织生产。[4]

1958年，东山大队归黄石公社；1984年，此大队改称东山村。2002年以后归荔城区黄石镇，设东山村委会。[4]
