地名由来[edit]
此地处木兰溪水利的要冲，早在宋代就建有陡门水闸，调节溪水入海，因此被称作陡门头。后来村民在水闸南侧聚居，遂改名斗南。[3]
历史沿革[edit]
宋元时期，斗南一带属感德乡；明清时代隶属三区连江里。民国时它分属三区的屏山乡与斗南保。新中国成立后，这里建屏南乡，归北高区、黄石区管辖，后又组成屏南高级社。[4]
1958年，屏南大队在黄石公社内设立；1960年另设斗南大队。1984年改称黄石镇斗南村，2002年以后归荔城区黄石镇。[4]
名胜古迹[edit]
斗南郑氏宗祠位于斗南自然村，清代建筑，为莆田市第九批市级文物保护单位。祠为单进廊院式布局，正厅面阔五间，存有明代门枕石和柱础，保持清代建筑风格。[5]
斗南奉政祠同样位于斗南自然村，为清代建筑，也是莆田市第九批市级文物保护单位。祠坐东朝西，正厅面阔五间，存有清代门枕石与柱础。[5]
斗南头前厝位于斗南自然村，清代民居，同列为莆田市第九批市级文物保护单位，由偏门和主屋组成，主屋分上、中、下厅与天井。[5]
