惠下村位于福建省莆田市荔城区黄石镇的东南方向，北邻和平村，南接北高镇的呈山村，西距秀屿区约五公里。村名与惠上村同出一源，因地势较低而取名惠下。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

早年当地方氏兄弟六人先后中进士，时称“六桂”。其中第五桂迁居此地，后人为纪念方氏六桂而取名惠洋。民国时期因地势较低，改称惠下。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

此地旧为感德乡连江里的部分，明清改隶三区连江里，解放前的归属则是后洋下铺保。1950年代先后归北高区惠洋乡，以及黄石区沙惠乡的惠下高级社，1958年设为黄石公社惠下大队。[4]

1984年，大队改称惠下村；2002年以后归荔城区黄石镇，并设惠下村委会。[4]
