惠上村位于福建省莆田市荔城区黄石镇的东部，与北高镇的院后、坑园两村相邻。村名原同惠下村一样称惠洋，民国时因地势较高改称惠上。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

早年当地方氏兄弟六人先后中进士，时称“六桂”。其中第五桂迁居此地，后人为纪念方氏六桂而取名惠洋。民国时期因地势较高，改称惠上。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

宋元间此地在永嘉乡的范围之内，明清两代隶属三区连江里，民国时又分归黄石镇下的后洋保与顶铺保。新中国成立后曾设惠洋乡，1956年该乡与沙堤乡合为沙惠乡。[4]

1958年，黄石人民公社设惠上生产大队；1984年这里改称黄石镇惠上村，2002年以后归荔城区管辖，并设惠上村委会。[4]
