和平村位于福建省莆田市荔城区黄石镇的东部，村内设有黄石镇工业园区的一部分，村名由当地邻里和睦、天下太平的寓意而取。[1][2][3]

村名取邻里和谐、天下太平之意。[4]

历史沿革[edit]

明清时期此地属二区连江里，民国时期属黄石乡双龙保。新中国成立后设和平乡，后又数度分合。1984年改为和平村，2002年起属莆田市荔城区黄石镇，设和平村委会。[3]

名胜古迹[edit]

和平通天寺位于五龙自然村，始建于北宋元祐六年（1091年），明崇祯十三年（1640年）重建，近代又经修缮，为二进廊院式建筑，正殿为穿斗式土木构架，属明清建筑。[5]
