清后社区位于福建省莆田市荔城区黄石镇以北约3公里处，北临木兰溪，原为清后村。社区在清江流域，境内有中共莆田县委旧址等革命遗迹，明代官员周如磐也出生于此。[1][2][5][6]

地名由来[edit]

早年先民定居在清江流域，溪畔有大片草埔，后人便在草埔后方建居，故有此名。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

此地宋元时隶属感德乡连江里，明清时则是四区莆田里的一部分。解放前分为清前、清后两保，新中国成立后设清江乡。[4]

1958年，清江大队一分为二，分出清中与清后两个大队。1984年12月，清后大队改为黄石镇的清后村，2002年以后归荔城区黄石镇，2018年11月22日，本地改设为社区居委会。[4]

名胜古迹[edit]

中共莆田县委旧址位于清后村和丰自然村。1949年2月，中共莆田县工委改称县委，机关从城郊四亭迁至清江桂苑祠；县游击队驻在清江宗夏堂，在县委领导下主动出击，破坏敌方通讯设施。[5]

著名人物[edit]

周如磐（1567年生），清后社区人。明万历二十六年（1598年）中进士，选为翰林院庶吉士，天启元年（1621年）升礼部右侍郎，曾任《神宗实录》《光宗实录》总裁。[6]
