地名由来[edit]
古有“沉七州，浮莆田”的说法。唐代以前，此处是一望无际的沙滩，村名因此而来。[3]
历史沿革[edit]
清代以前，这里称水南金沙、鳌沙铺等，属兴化府莆田县景德里金沙里社。宋元时期归感德乡景德里，明清时期划入四区景德里，民国6年至1949年间分属莆田县第三区的金沙、双金保。[4]
1950年设沙板村，属水南乡；1958年组成莆田市黄石人民公社下的沙坂生产大队；1984年改称莆田市黄石人民公社沙坂村。2002年以后，此地归荔城区黄石镇，村委会仍设于沙坂。2018年11月22日，本地转为社区居委会。[4]
